Standing on 20 years of research experience and over one hundred scientific publications in the fields of virtual acoustics and music technology, Outer Echo strives to push the boundaries of interactive art and digital entertainment by providing artists and producers with advanced audio signal processing techniques to help shape the sound experiences of the future.

Established in vibrant Montréal and funded by both private and public entities, Outer Echo develops an expanding portfolio of proprietary and patented technologies and has enjoyed advice and collaboration of Prof. Gary Scavone of McGill University and Prof. Julius Smith of Stanford University among others.

Esteban Maestre, PhD

After a long stint in Academia, Esteban founded Outer Echo in 2022.  He holds BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Digital Communication. Esteban held research and teaching positions at Barcelona Tech, U Pompeu Fabra, Stanford University, and McGill University. He also worked in research projects with private companies such as Philips Research or Yamaha Corporation. He specializes in digital filter design and physical modeling sound synthesis.

Song Wang, PhD

Song holds BEng, MEng and PhD degrees in Computer Software Engineering and Computational Acoustics. He held research and teaching positions at Tianjin University and McGill University, and worked on research projects with private companies in China and Canada. He specializes in numerical methods for acoustic simulation and fluid mechanics.
